7th Grade

Course Description

The purpose of this class is to prepare students for the demands of tomorrow’s workplace by focusing on computer skills. The 7th grade curriculum places an emphasis on research preparation using word processing, slideshow presentations, and spreadsheets.

Course Topics*

Topic Description
Computer Basics Students will review of the computer file system, basic commands, and troubleshooting.
Digital Citizenship & Safety Students will review using web browsers and proper techniques for searching, as well how to properly and safely use the Internet as a resource.
Word Processing Students will learn how to format, align, and position text and elements within a text document using Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
Slideshow Presentations Students will learn how to format, stylize, and animate slideshows using Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides.
Spreadsheets Students will learn how to use spreadsheets to collect, present, and analyze data using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

In addition to the topics listed above, students will also practice touch typing skills, and review the latest in Web 2.0 technologies, such as Google Docs, WikiSpaces, Prezi, as well as social media for the classroom.

A portion of some classes will also be dedicated to practicing proper stretching and relaxation techniques that are necessary when spending an extended period of time at the computer.
